Pre-Launch Checklist

01 Extract the ZIP: Do not run Capture2Text directly from the compressed folder. Extract the entire folder to a location like C:\Tools\.
02 Install Dependencies: If you get a “MSVCP140.dll missing” error, install the Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable.
03 Check Tray Icon: Capture2Text runs in the background. Look for the “C2T” icon in your Windows Taskbar tray (near the clock).

Usage Example:

# Perform OCR on a specific screen area and save to file

Capture2Text.exe –screen-rect “100 100 500 500” –output-file “result.txt”

# Specify language and use clipboard

Capture2Text.exe -l “Japanese” –clipboard

Common Parameters:

3 Minutes to Your First OCR

You’ve downloaded the file, now here is exactly how to use it.

Extract & Run

Right-click the ZIP file and select “Extract All”. Open the folder and double-click Capture2Text.exe. Look for the icon in your system tray.

Set Your Language

Right-click the tray icon, go to OCR Language, and select your target (e.g., Japanese). Ensure the language data is in the tessdata folder.

Press Win + Q

Press Windows Key + Q, then use your mouse to select the area on your screen. Release the mouse, and the text is instantly copied!
